Water Softener (CT Powder) for Textile Dyeing Processes
Description
Water plays a critical role in dyeing processes, serving as the medium for dyes and auxiliaries to interact with fibers. Elevated levels of calcium (Ca²⁺), magnesium (Mg²⁺), and other metal ions in water can severely compromise dye uptake. Mild cases result in dull shades, while severe cases cause grayish tones, uneven dyeing, or even blotches. These issues are particularly pronounced during spring when reduced rainfall increases ion concentration.
Qiantai Chemical’s Water Softener (CT Powder) effectively resolves these challenges. If fabrics exhibit dull or darkened shades post-dyeing, high-temperature treatment (≥95°C) with this agent significantly improves color clarity.
Note: CT—Chelant Technology
Properties
Composition: Mixture of inorganic and organic chelating agents
Appearance: Free-flowing white powder
pH Value: 11.5 ± 1 (1% solution)
Solubility: Readily soluble in water at room temperature
Key Features
1. CT Powder demonstrates exceptional water softening performance. Simultaneously functioning as a versatile chelating dispersant, it provides superior sequestration of metal ions (Ca²⁺, Fe²⁺/³⁺, Mg²⁺) and exhibits strong dispersion capability for various impurities.
2. When incorporated across dyeing/printing processes and knitting production stages, CT Powder effectively dissolves and removes calcium/iron deposits and silicate scales from equipment, significantly reducing process water hardness.
3. When co-applied with hydrogen peroxide stabilizers during pre-treatment bleaching, CT Powder controls violent peroxide decomposition in both steaming and cold pad-batch processes, preventing pinhole formation while enhancing substrate whiteness and bleaching uniformity.
4. Implemented during soaping-off after printing/dyeing operations, CT Powder reduces water hardness to efficiently remove unfixed dyes (including reactives), minimizing or eliminating color-fixing agents requirements while achieving optimal color fastness.
Application Methods
1. General water softening (dyeing/scouring):
Dosage: 0.3 – 1.0 g/L
Applicable at all temperatures and process durations.
2. Color brightening/correction:
Dosage: 1.0 – 2.0 g/L
Temperature: 100°C (212°F)
Time: 20 – 50 min
Post-treatment: Rinse thoroughly before cationic finishing.
Note: Optimize parameters based on existing factory procedures.
Precautions
1. Conduct lab trials to determine optimal dosage for specific applications.
2. Perform compatibility tests before combining with other chemicals in the same bath.
Storage & Packaging
1. Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area; protect from direct sunlight and moisture. Shelf life: 6 months.
2. Packed in woven polypropylene bags with inner plastic liners, 25 kg net weight per bag.
